Firefighters return from rescue mission to Nepal
A team of firefighters from Cheshire have returned from a challenging mission to Nepal.
A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake, reportedly the worst in Nepal in the past 81 years, struck on April 25. It toppled buildings in the capital of Kathmandu and in Nepal’s second-largest city of Pokhara, and in many outlying villages.
Six Cheshire firefighters, who all volunteer to be part of the UK International Search and Rescue Team (UKISAR), went out to Nepal to help in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that has killed more than 8,000 people.

Boat safety week 2015
Firefighters are raising awareness of boat fire safety during boat safety week. The number of boat fires on our coastal and inland waters is relatively low. However, when they do occur, they quite often have devastating consequences.
Due to the remote location of moorings, the fire and rescue service can experience difficulties in gaining access to an incident. On many occasions, these incidents result in the total destruction of the boat and to surrounding property.
Please use the link below to find view some simple advice to ensure your boating activities are safe and enjoyable.

Biker Down course
If you were the first on the scene of an accident involving a biker, would you know what to do? Would you know who is most at risk, how to protect the area or whether you should remove the helmet of a downed rider?
Actions taken in the first few moments after an accident can be crucial in minimising injuries and can make a real difference to the lives of those involved. But there can be some uncertainty about what to do in these situations.
We are holding a number of Biker Down training courses this year and the next course is being be held on Sunday 24 May 2015 at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters in Winsford starting at 12noon.
