Cheshire East Council’s plans to build a new hub depot in Middlewich will go under the microscope at public gatherings later this week.
Two consultation events will take place at Middlewich Town Hall, Lewin Street, on Friday, March 13 from 7pm to 9pm and on Saturday, March 14 from 9am to midday.
Planning consultants and representatives from Cheshire East and Ansa will be present to answer questions and there will be a display about the proposals, including artist’s impressions of the development.
Everyone is welcome and there is no need to register or make an appointment in advance.
The new depot for Ansa, Cheshire East Council’s operating company for recycling and streetscape services, is proposed for the derelict former Ideal Standard site on Cledford Lane.
It would enable the Council to boost recycling and reduce the use of landfill, making Cheshire East one of the UK’s greenest boroughs.
Councillor David Topping, Cheshire East’s Cabinet member for service commissioning, said: “I hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to find out what we are proposing and to ask any questions they have about matters that concern them.
“We plan to replace a large, untidy site with a smart-looking, new facility. To dispel some rumours: we have no intention of using it to produce energy from waste; and all our household waste sites will remain open.”
