The board of directors for Cheshire East Council’s new independent charitable leisure trust has now formally met for the first time.
‘Everybody Sport & Recreation’ is set to take over the running of the Council’s leisure centres and swimming pools from early 2014.
The trust has begun the process of applying to become a registered charity. This means profits will then be reinvested directly in to the provision of leisure services for Cheshire East residents.
Following the meeting, Councillor Andrew Kolker, Everybody Sport & Recreation Chairman, said: “I am delighted to be working alongside such an experienced and dedicated board of directors right from the outset of Everybody Sport and Recreation.
“We’re looking forward to creating many opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of all Cheshire East residents and to do so with more efficient and exciting ways of working with the leisure services team.”
Welcoming the news of the first official meeting, Cheshire East Council Leader Michael Jones said: “I’m delighted to see the leisure trust up and running, heralding the first part of our ambition plan to become a commissioning council where services are delivered in innovative new ways that improve customer satisfaction while providing better value for money.”
