Crewe police seek witnesses to sexual assault - update

 

Crewe police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in Crewe.
Sometime between 2am and 2.50am on 30 June 2013, a 52-year-old woman was walking along Gresty Road near to the chip shop and Crewe Alexendra football ground, when she noticed three men. One of the men crossed the road and tried to engage her in conversation.
She tried to ignore him but he walked in front of her and touched her inappropriately over her clothing.
A second man then crossed over and talked to the offender who left. The second man then followed the woman and sexually assaulted her.
A 28-year-old man was arrested and later charged in connection with the second sexual assault.

The man from the first assault is described as being in his early 20s, 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny build with dark brown thick, curly hair. He was wearing dark clothing and a long sleeved top. He is described as being of Eastern European origin.
DC Bev Wilkinson said: "These types of incidents are rare however I would urge people to follow basic safety advice. Remain vigilant when walking alone at night, maintain an awareness of your surroundings and personal safety and always make sure that someone knows where you are going and when you are due back.
"Try and stick to well lit areas and report any suspicious activity immediately."
