Cheshire East Council is supporting a number of events across the Borough as part of the Chief Fire Officers Association Road Safety Week (May 6-12).
In Nantwich, the Local Area Partnership (LAP) has brought together Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, the neighbourhood policing unit and Reaseheath College to deliver activities on May 9 and 10.
May 9 - When 'horsepower' meets horsepower - negotiating horses safely on the road
This event will be held at Reaseheath equine department from 7pm-9pm and it will include:
· A free informative lecture/demonstration offering practical advice to all road users, and specifically targeting learner and newly-qualified drivers, professional drivers (HGV, delivery, courier, public transport etc) cyclists and motorcyclists;
· Combination of videos, presentations and demonstrations.
May 10 - Community engagement and awareness raising
Exhibitions and information from the Council, police, fire service and Reaseheath College at the following locations:
· Nantwich Town Square - 10am-1pm;
· Hankelow Village Green - 2pm-3.30pm.
In Congleton, the following events have been planned:
May 7 - The 'crash' vehicle
The police and fire service will be holding an event at the town's Tesco store. It will include the 'crash' vehicle the fire service uses to demonstrate the impact of a serious accident, alongside the police delivering safety messages.
