Willaston and Rope Ward Councillor Brian Silvester has criticised the cutting of a subsidised bus service to the Rope Lane Surgery in his Ward. He said," There is no longer any doctor's surgery within Willaston and residents have to travel to the Rope Lane Surgery in Rope. For those without transport this involves a walk of more than a mile along Eastern Road, which is a narrow country lane with no pavements and little lighting, and with poor visibility in parts due to high hedgerows on bends. When the Rope Lane Surgery was first established a few years ago Cheshire East Council agreed to provide some funding for the diversion of the no.9 bus service along Eastern Road to Rope Lane. On 2nd January this year Cheshire East Council withdrew that financial support and the bus service reverted to the previous commercial route.(See e-mails below) At the moment the whole Wybunbury side of Willaston has no bus service at all and this is not acceptable. When the route was subsidised the subsidy per journey was £2 per user and that doe s not seem excessive to me."
