Dial-a-Ride in Congleton and Crewe Re-launches

Cheshire East Council has stepped in to re-introduce Dial-a-Ride service in the south of the Borough.

The service will replace that previously operated by the charity East Cheshire Community Transport (ECCT), which ceased to trade on May 16.

The Dial-a-Ride service has not been running for passengers since ECCT ceased to trade.

Councillor Andrew Thwaite, Cabinet support member in charge of the environment, said: “Cheshire East Council has acted quickly to get Dial-a-Ride up and running as quickly as possible for users.

“Customers will be able to book the service in much the same way as before and will be able to access it from the same areas. The service will also be available to all existing Dial-a-Ride members. “

It is anticipated that a new booking line will be available from Monday, June 11, between 9.30am and 12.30pm and users will need to book their transport at least 24 hours in advance. This number will be released soon.

The cost to users for the Dial-a-Ride service will be similar to that previously offered by ECCT. There will be no annual membership charge.
