Cheshire East Council backs business

Boosting business is high on the agenda for Cheshire East Council as its Business Hub comes to Crewe this month.

The Council and its partners will be at The Georges Community Centre, in West Street, from 7.30am until 5.30pm on Wednesday, June 20, to offer FREE support and advice to businesses to help them survive, thrive and grow.

Business Hubs are aimed at new and established businesses, anyone considering self-employment and the third sector (charities, social enterprises and community interest companies etc).

Cheshire East Council is working hard with partner agencies to support its local business community. The workshop element of this Hub will take a closer look at how people can develop their brand, unique selling point and wider entrepreneurial skills in a tough economic environment.

Tim McCloud, of marketing firm TMC Creative, will give a workshop titled ‘What is a brand?’ between 7.30am and 9am.

There will be a chance for networking until 9.30am – with advice about new sources of support, changes to available Government funds and general business news provided by Cheshire East Council’s Jacqueline Wilson, enterprise coach Rob Brown and business advisers. There will then an opportunity for one-to-one appointments with the advisers until 5.30pm.

Councillor Jamie Macrae, Cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity and economic regeneration, said: “I would urge local business people to attend this excellent free event. We are living in challenging financial times and any advice on how to improve your business could prove crucial.

“As a Council, we are strongly committed to promoting business growth and job creation. We will make every effort to offer help to local businesses during the current challenging economic climate. These Business Hubs are one of many ways Cheshire East can help support your business needs.”

The Business Hub event follows hot on the heels of a number of Cheshire East’s award-winning procurement training workshops, which have received a wealth of positive feedback from business people.

Procurement events aimed to help businesses gain a better understanding of how to tender for work with Cheshire East Council and other public sector organisations.

A series of Business Hub events are planned across the Borough in coming months until March 2013.

Places are limited for the Business Event and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To book your place, contact Jacqueline Wilson on 01270 685911 or email jacqueline.wilson@cheshireast.gov.uk or visit our website, www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/business
