On Thursday 23rd February, Cheshire East Council narrowly voted to continue with its planning application for a Traveller site on Parkers Road. With the voting split 3 ways, with a majority of Councillors voting against or abstaining, Councillors showed they could not support this planning application.
Recently Cheshire East Council issued a statement saying it was withdrawing its own planning application for a Waste Recycling Plant at Lyme Green in Macclesfield, because residents had raised concerns about the plant.
In Crewe, more than 7000 people have showed their concerns about the proposed Traveller site by signing two petitions, So many people have written to the council to show their concerns, they had to set up a whole new department to deal with correspondences and so far more than 500 people have put in objections.
It should be crystal clear to Cheshire East, they do not have the support of its own Councillors or that of local residents on this issue, which is why I am calling upon Cheshire East Council to listen to the people of Crewe and to show their concerns are valued as much the rest of Cheshire East and withdraw this planning application.
