New Parish Grant Welcomed

Willaston and Rope Ward Councillor Brian Silvester has welcomed a new Parish Council Grant from Cheshire East. (See attached and below)

He said, " This grant will be well received by the Parish and Town Councils in Cheshire East. In my Ward, Rope Parish Council will receive £1,517 and Willaston Parish Council  will receive £2,407. This grant will help alleviate some of the unfairness of double taxation. This is where residents in the parished areas of the Borough have to pay towards specific services supplied in Crewe and Macclesfield, because thay have no Town Council,  and at the same time pay the total cost of the very same service in their Parish. For example, the residents in Willaston have to pay the full cost of the playing fields and allotments in the village but at the same time pay towards the cost of playing fields and allotments in Crewe and Macclesfield. This unfairness has gone on too long so this new grant is very welcome."
