Shavington Borough Councillors have finally persuaded Cheshire East Council to remove a dangerous Chestnut Tree in Chestnut Avenue, Shavington.( see e-mail below) Cllr. Brian Silvester said," The tree's roots are pushing up the pavement and protruding out into the road. Pedestrians trip on the roots and vehicles hit the tree as they drive along Chestnut Avenue. It has taken a while to convince the Cheshire East Council's officers of the seriousness and danger of the situation but they have finally decided to take decisive action."
Julian Goodier Page, Conservative Candidate for the Shavington Ward said,“Of course it’s a shame the tree has to come down but the safety of the public must come first . It is causing accidents and Chestnut Avenue does still have two magnificent Chestnut trees either side ,right at the junction with Crewe Road”.

Subject: RE: Chestnut tree in chestnut ave, Shavington
Dear Cllr Silvester,
After further assessment and advice today, I have decided that it would be a prudent measure to fell the chestnut tree due to the position, size and possible future maintenance implications. I have asked for the tree to be felled in early April, I will ask Shaun to monitor the footway until the tree is removed and following the removal the footway will be reshaped in this area.
Kind regards
