Cheshire East Council’s theme for this year’s show was ‘Love Food Hate Waste’, which looked at ways in which left-over food could be used to create quality meals.
Adult service users from the ‘Cuppas and Cakes’ group, which runs a café at the Ludford Centre in Crewe, and Karen Austin, from Macon House, cooked with celebrity chefs and explained what the service meant to them.
One member of the group has recently found employment in the community using the skills and confidence she has learnt at ‘Cuppas and Cakes’.
Cheshire East Council’s School Chef of the Year, Debbie Worsley, was also there cooking with celebrity chef Nigel Brown and year six pupils from Holmes Chapel Primary School. Rebecca Hatton won a competition, held recently in all Cheshire East primary schools, for her and four friends to cook at the Cheshire Show.
Pupils had to draw their favourite school meals and more than 600 hundred entries were received.
