PLANT YOURSELF SILLY

A major planting session is being held at Queens Park in Crewe on Sunday June 13th and green fingered youngsters are being asked to help.

The beds along the main driveway will be planted up between 2pm – 4pm with Parks Gardening Specialist Adrian Birchall on hand to offer help and advice.

Plants will be provided and there will be a limited number of free small hand tools.

This is just one of a number of events being held at Queens Park over the summer.

This month’s programme includes:

June 20th – Matrix Disco Dancers, an entertaining local group of performers.

June 27th – The George Formby Band, playing relaxing summer sounds.

The park also offers a bowling green, putting green, giant chess and the land train.

Councillor Andrew Knowles, Cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: “By introducing a summer programme of events we hope to encourage more visitors to Queens Park and to make their visit even more enjoyable.

“For many children this will be their first taste of gardening.

“Do come along and support the programme, there really is something to suit everyone.”

Plus, the Play Rangers activities feature every Sunday at 1pm, with more play events planned for the first week of the summer school holidays.
