HALLÉ HOSTS YOUNG MUSICIANS AT THE BRIDGEWATER HALL

More that 1,000 Cheshire East primary schoolchildren got the chance to play alongside the famous HALLÉ HOSTS YOUNG MUSICIANS AT THE BRIDGEWATER HALL

More that 1,000 Cheshire East primary schoolchildren got the chance to play alongside the famous Hallé Orchestra on Friday June 11 at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.

Cheshire East Council’s Music Service organised the mass celebration for the pupils, who have been learning to play their instruments for just a year.

The children, chosen from schools across the area, practised their pieces during free weekly instrument lessons given by the Cheshire East Music Service as part of the Wider Opportunities whole class tuition initiative.

Lesley Montgomery, Year 5 teacher at Wheelock Primary School said: “The event was thoroughly enjoyed by my class - for children who have only been playing for such a short amount of time, to feel so involved and to be able to tell people they have played with the Hallé is wonderful.”

Playing everything from clarinets, trumpets and violins to percussion and singing, the young musicians performed to perfection.

Head of Cheshire East Music Service Rob Nash says the event exceeded all expectations. “This was a fantastic experience which will be remembered by the children taking part for a long time. It was a great culmination of all that they have been working towards over the last year.”

Councillor Rhoda Bailey said: “The concert was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience the thrill of playing with professional musicians in the Bridgewater Hall.

“Their performance was brilliant, and they were a great credit to themselves, their schools and the Cheshire East Music Service.”
