BUDGET- BUSTING BUSINESS HUB HITS CREWE

The next ‘Business Hub’ hits Crewe later this month and is set to be an extra special event.

It will take place on Wednesday, June 23, at Scope House in Crewe: the day after the emergency budget is announced by the Government.

The event will, therefore, take on a new advisory role, guiding local businesses through the effects the budget may have and what the future holds.

What is the Business Hub?

A free drop-in event (from 10am) organised by Cheshire East Council’s Economic Recovery Group with contributions from Business Link; Blue Orchid; HM Revenue & Customs; Jobcentre Plus; ACAS; The Reaseheath Enterprise Delivery Hub; and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Businesses are able to learn more about the range of publicly funded business support available and hear about the range of services and solutions on offer to meet real business needs.

Hammond McNulty, a Congleton-based business advisory group will host a special workshop, reflecting on the previous day’s emergency budget announcement:

Don’t Score an Own-Goal – taxation and the budget; how it will affect you:

  • Budget highlights – find out how the emergency budget will effect you and your business;
  • Employee benefits;
  • Business Tax measures;
  • Family companies; and
  • Personal Taxation.

There will also be an opportunity to have a one-to-one appointment with a member of the Cheshire East Council Procurement Team: How to tender for public service contracts.

Cheshire East Council is aware that this Business Hub event falls on the same day as the World Cup tie between Slovenia and England (3pm) and as such organisers have structured the day to accommodate an early finish.

A further eight Business Hubs are to be held across Cheshire East up until March 2011.

For more information, to book a place at one or more of the workshops and to book an appointment with the Procurement Team (to find out about how to tender for public service contracts) – please email jacqueline.wilson@cheshireeast.gov.uk.

Cheshire East Councillor, Jamie Macrae, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Prosperity said:

“The first ‘Business Hub’ event was very successful and I would like to thank all those who attended. Guiding local businesses through the recession continues to be a key priority for Cheshire East Council.

“This event will focus on the emergency budget and what impact it may have on the local economy; what better time to get free advice and information on how to expand, boost your profits or simply gain a better understanding of the complex business world.”
