‘BADGE OF HONOUR’ FOR TWO CHESHIRE EAST EVENTS

“Thank you for exposing people to life-changing entrepreneurial experiences”
Those are the words of Enterprise UK, this week, as they awarded two Cheshire East Council-led events with a ‘High Impact Badge of Honour’.

The recognition has been given by Enterprise UK for Cheshire East Council’s work with local entrepreneurs during Global Entrepreneurship Week. The events to receive the ‘High Impact Badge of Honour’ are:

Survive and Thrive – held in November 2009, these free business support sessions; held in Sandbach were designed to guide businesses on the best ways of accessing finance, exporting, overseas trade, sector development and accessing knowledge in the current economic climate. Representatives from Jobcentre Plus and Business Link were also on hand to answer questions and provide advice.

Women’s Enterprise Event – held on Thursday, November 19 2009 in Congleton, this event invited female entrepreneurs to celebrate Women’s Enterprise Week. The workshop provided advice on how to overcome barriers, retain customers, learn more about the support available, keep ahead of the competition and use outlets such as the internet as a promotional tool.

These events were seen as being well organised, inspirational and of a high quality. They were just two of 34 organisations to receive the accolade.
Cheshire East Councillor, Jamie Macrae, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Prosperity said;
“This is recognition for all the hard work that went into running these events. I would like to thank all those who attended. Helping local businesses through the current economic climate has been a main priority for Cheshire East Council.
“This award is something we can all be proud of but we will not become complacent. We must continue to strive to do all we can to boost confidence in the local economy and encourage our entrepreneurs to continue their good work across Cheshire East.”
